Growth and learning for adults with learning disabilities, difficulties

and autism spectrum disorder

Ouseburn Farm is a place for growing - plants, animals but most of all people. Since 2011, we have been improving the wellbeing and quality of life of adults with learning disabilities, difficulties and autism spectrum disorder (our Placements) via our care farming programme. Through hands-on experience in our bustling farmyard, gardens and visitor centre we make a huge difference to their lives – they tell us every day and evaluation of our work shows this too. By coming to the farm:

  • 98% of our Placements say they have the chance to do more things that they enjoy

  • 93% say they are better able to relate to others

  • 93% have more confidence in what they can do

  • 95% say their ability to make new friends has improved

  • 93% say they feel more included and less alone

  • 88% said their ability to work on a task by themselves has improved

Ouseburn Farm and our care farming programme have been awarded the Green Care Quality Mark by Social Farms and Gardens. This gives confidence to everyone who uses the Farm in the quality standards of our care farm. It also demonstrates that the green care we provide is a safe, effective and viable service for adults with learning disabilities, difficulties and autism spectrum disorder.
